Bonnat Museum

The Bonnat Museum is considered as one of France’s grand museums.  In the heart of Bayonne, this remarkable edifice representing the 1900 architectural style was created to accommodate the masterpieces gathered by Léon Bonnat, artist and collector.

Léon Bonnat would later bequeath this museum to his natal city. The architect wanted the museum to perform technically and functionally around the works of art that it contained and moreover, that the museum be in harmony with them.

This achieved synthesis now accompanies a large series of paintings, sculptures and works of the most renowned artists:  Rubens, Le Greco, Murillo, Goya, Ingres, Degas…

This is a place of exceptional art with an international reputation.
